Fatip safety razor adjustable Vario Chrome Gentile closed comb

The Fatip Vario Chrome Gentile closed comb is an adjustable Safety Razor designed for those who want a precise yet comfortable shave, with the ability to tailor every pass to the needs of their skin and beard. The chrome finish gives it a bright, elegant look, while also reinforcing the idea of a solid, well-crafted tool—perfect for a daily routine focused on reliability, control, and consistent results.

If you want a Safety Razor that can support you both in frequent shaves and when your beard is tougher, the Vario’s adjustment is the feature that truly makes the difference.

With this Safety Razor, you can customize the shaving experience in a simple and immediate way. The special adjustment system allows you to change aggressiveness—meaning the shaving depth—through a rotating dial positioned on the handle at the base of the head. By turning the dial, you increase or decrease the space between the blade and the comb of the head (blade gap). In practical terms, a smaller setting tends to provide a milder, more forgiving feel, ideal when the skin is sensitive or when you shave often; a more open setting, on the other hand, can increase cutting efficiency when the beard is more resistant or when you want a deeper shave.

This flexibility makes the Fatip Vario Chrome Gentile a Safety Razor suitable both for those learning to handle an adjustable razor and for anyone who wants to refine their technique and achieve tailored results. The closed comb version is recommended for those who prioritize glide and comfort. Skin contact is more even, and the head’s guidance helps maintain a stable angle during shaving, reducing the chance of uneven strokes. This is especially appreciated by those prone to redness, those with delicate areas such as the neck, or anyone who prefers a neat and controlled shave without having to “chase” stubble with too many touch-ups. With good face preparation and proper lubrication (shaving soap or a well-built shaving cream lather), this Safety Razor can deliver a clean, even, and comfortable shave. The Vario comes with the classic large handle, designed to ensure a secure grip and good balance during use.

The technical specifications help you understand its setup at a glance:

  • Weight: 80 g
  • Total length: 93 mm
  • Handle length: 82 mm
  • Head width: 42 mm

These measurements contribute to a sense of solidity and control—essential when using an adjustable Safety Razor. Good balance allows you to guide the head with short, precise strokes, letting the weight of the razor do the work and avoiding pressure on the skin. This reduces friction and micro-irritation while improving overall shaving quality. For correct and safe use, it’s important to carefully follow the procedures for disassembling and reassembling the head, always ensuring the components are aligned and the blade is securely fixed.

1) Disassembly

  • Turn the adjustment dial located at the base of the head clockwise until it stops (maximum head opening).
  • Hold the head firmly by the sides and rotate the handle counterclockwise.
  • Keep turning until the spacer (the black central piece) and the top cap of the head, which hold the blade, separate from the handle.
  • With great care, also separate the spacer from the top cap and remove the used blade by holding it only by the short, unsharpened sides.
  • Dispose of the used blade in a safe container for disposal.

2) Reassembly

  • Take the top cap upside down and place the new blade by sliding it over the 2 posts and the central screw.
  • Also assemble the spacer by sliding it over the 2 posts and the central screw.
  • Hold firmly by the sides (top cap + blade + spacer) without letting them move, and insert the central screw into the corresponding central hole of the handle.
  • Holding the head from the sides, start screwing the handle clockwise: the screw will begin to descend and the spacer guides will pass through the comb holes.
  • Go all the way to the stop, tightening fully. Do not overtighten to avoid damaging the threads.
  • Make sure the holes and notches of all parts (blade, spacer, and comb) are perfectly aligned.

3) Adjustment

  • Now that the blade is securely fixed, turn the adjustment dial located on the handle at the base of the head to set your desired level of aggressiveness/cutting depth.

To get the most from this Safety Razor, an effective method is to start with a moderate setting and increase it gradually only where needed—for example on the chin and mustache—while keeping a gentler setting on the neck and cheeks. Short strokes, a controlled angle, and generous lubrication are essential for a smooth and precise shave. The Fatip Vario Chrome Gentile closed comb is a targeted choice for those who want a versatile, stable, and comfortable Safety Razor, capable of adapting to different skin and beard needs without sacrificing control and quality.
