Coticule Selected special size kit (bout+stone) – Ardennes Coticule

We are proud to present this KIT of Coticule Selected made in limited edition by Ardenne Coticule.
The Coticule Selected stone has a special size of 150×60 mm combined with a 20×60 mm bout. We believe that the size of this sharpening stone is the best in terms of length and width as it offers a suitable coverage for each “sharpening hand” (so not too wide and not too narrow!) making the passage of the blade always “safe” in any situation.
It is well known that the Coticule Selected sharpening stone is an “all-rounder”. In fact, although the estimated grit is 8000/10000, the abrasive power of this stone is very respectable. It only takes a few strokes of the razor over the stone to realise how much material is removed. For this reason, it is important that the user is careful not to apply too much force to the razor when passing over the stone.
By using the bout supplied with this stone to create a slurry in suspension on the stone, the user can enjoy the sharpening and finishing process to their heart’s content.
As per the manufacturer’s instructions Ardenne Coticule, the stone is already lapped and ready to use. However, each user can arrange for an initial polishing before use.
Personally, I think that this stone, when used to its best advantage, produces a very effective and sharp edge. I like to finish the finishing process under running water until the razor begins to feel a slight suction effect on the stone.
How to use it: After wetting the stone and the bout, rub the bout on the stone until you get a slurry, pass the razor on the stone with “out” movements bringing the slurry back and forth in the direction of the razor. When the slurry is “absorbed/finished” rinse the razor and stone with water, then finish the finishing part on stone under running water. It is advisable to add a few drops of water to the slurry from time to time so as not to have too “thick” a suspension.
