Mondial shaving brush Best Badger Baylis L
Mondial’s Best Badger shaving brush is made with natural grey badger hair of high quality. It is slightly less flexible than Super Badger and has a less pronounced colour band, yet the fibres are shaped so that the base is wider than the tip, giving a softer feel while still generating an excellent lather.
Baylis is one of Mondial’s exclusive design collections, featuring an elegant hourglass profile. The handle is crafted from smooth, high-quality resin in a soft ivory shade.

The perfect care of a Mondial badger shaving brush
Brush preparation
Before shaving, soak the Mondial brush in warm water (about 38–45 °C) for a few minutes so the bristles soften and retain heat. The right temperature is one at which you can immerse your hand without excessive scalding. Water that is too hot could irreversibly damage the hair.
Final cleaning of your Simpson shaving brush
This is the most critical phase for any brush. Make sure all soap residue is removed from the knot by rinsing it with clean hot water. Gently squeeze the base of the knot to check that it is completely free of residue and, finally, stroke the bristles on a soft cloth. Let the hair dry completely on its stand (if available) or in a ventilated area (such as near an open window). Allow the brush to dry fully between uses to prevent mould that could damage the hair. A proper drying cycle can take up to 48 hours, which is why purchasing a second Mondial shaving brush is highly recommended.
Mondial 1908 — Art Made in Italy
Founded in Florence in 1908 by master brush-maker Attilio Bagnoli, Mondial began in a small workshop in the Galluzzo district, where the freshly boiled bristles were assembled by hand, one by one. In more than a century of history, that artisanal gesture has never been lost: even today, every Mondial shaving brush is finished by hand, following a ritual handed down through five generations.
In the 1930s the factory moved inside the city walls, the workforce grew, and the family expanded production for the finest barbers in Europe. After the Second World War, Attilio’s children and grandchildren introduced safety razors, olive-wood bowls and travel sets, carrying the Mondial name in the suitcases of Italian gentlemen. The turning point came in 2000, when the fourth generation took over the brand and launched the Mondial 1908 collection, transforming the company from a subcontractor into a luxury maison specialising in traditional shaving, grooming and perfumery.
Innovation and tradition are in constant dialogue: the multi-award-winning “Sphaera” set reinterprets Florentine classicism with minimalist lines, while Hi-Brush synthetic fibres replicate the softness of badger hair while respecting animal welfare. In 2018 the brand opened the “Gentlemen’s Barber” concept store just steps from the Ponte Vecchio—a salon-lounge where customers can enjoy bespoke shaves and men’s skincare rituals. Every cream, soap or aftershave is enriched with fragrances inspired by Tuscan gardens and with natural ingredients from sustainable supply chains, reflecting the brand’s commitment to responsible luxury.
Today, on its 115th anniversary, Mondial exports to more than sixty countries yet continues to produce in Florence, selecting seasoned woods, precious metals and fine resins with the same meticulousness shown in 1908. With every brushstroke, the artisan’s hand distils a century of Italian savoir-faire, turning the daily shave into an experience of pure sensory pleasure and timeless style.
